Cohere builds models aimed at enterprise workloads: the Command family for generation and tool use, Embed for vector search and Rerank for reordering retrieved results. Its strengths are multilingual quality, RAG with built-in citations and having the full retrieval stack in one place. Open weights for Aya and Command models are available for research use and self-hosting.
